The history of the Star brand begins in the 1940s. The plants were established in 1948 on the basis of Zakłady Mechaniczne in Starachowice, founded in 1920, producing cannons and frames for cars manufactured by Lilpop, Rau and Loewenstein in Warsaw in the interwar period, and were named Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych im. Feliks Dzerzhinsky and were located in Starachowice. The “Star” trucks were manufactured there. What is the further history of the Star company?

Star brand history

After the occupational strike in 1991, the plant was transformed into a company called Zakłady Starachowickie Star S.A. In the mid-1990s, the control over the company was taken over by Sobiesław Zasada Centrum S.A. She tried to create a Polish company specializing in the production of commercial vehicles without success. Later, the company was divided into two companies: Star Trucks Sp. z o.o. and Inwest Star S.A. At the end of 1999, the German group of MAN AG became the main shareholder of Star Trucks. After this acquisition, the former Star factory continued to produce trucks for several years. First of its own design, then models with a large share of parts of the MAN concern, such as cabs and engines.

The plant in Starachowice as one of the few in Europe and the only one in Poland has a line for corrosion protection using the cataphoresis method of such large elements.
